Every Day

(originally published June 24, 2014)

New Years' resolutions are not really my thing.  However, I made one with my daughter on New Years Eve which seemed almost silly at the time, but has proven to turn out to be a real challenge when you mix in all the other stuff that life throws at you.

What was the resolution, you say?

If she practiced violin EVERY DAY in 2014, I would also practice EVERY DAY.  Right now, I am 204 for 204.

Seems easy, right?  Guess again.  Your job.  Kids' sports commitments.  Pets.  Vacations.  Illness.  The list of life's little hiccups goes on and on unabated.

It seemed so easy.  But it's not.  And that's the point.  Every day you have to do the work.  Every day.   Even if you first get home at 10:30pm from a long work (or school!) day.  You do the work in earnest, you'll get to where you want to go.  The concept is simple.  Doing the work is the tough part.

Now go practice!!!
